LA Times Winter Olympics

LA Times Winter Olympics

A good friend invited me to Torino for the Winter Olympics in 2006, to hang out with her family. Her little sister dates Joey Cheek, the speedskater, who won gold the second night we were there. Whooee! Whirlwind introduction to fame ensued. I pitched this story to some small regional papers before Kirsten’s mom said, What are you doing starting at the bottom? Start at the TOP and work your way down. So I pitched to the LA Times, and they accepted it. Lesson learned!

It’s slightly distorted because this is a scan of the copy printed on-site in Torino (each paper prints a local edition during special events). I also blew it out huge so you can actually read it, even at 1000pixels wide it was migraine inducing.

Here’s the cover, with a teammate:

Hello hello! I create content to engage people in all levels of a sustainable lifestyle and show how to take action through localized resources, interactive impact calculators, and the social aspects that make it all fun. There is a lot of generalized green living information out there, but it's the ability to act at home and with your community, and the emotional incentive to do so, that I work in. If you work in digital storytelling, environmental education, or sustainable travel, I'd like to know who you are, too. Twitter is best, but email is good also.
